I wanted to enhance the emotional depth of “Zero Gravity” with a poignant piano ballad, bringing a more intimate and heartfelt touch to the complexities of asking your loved ones to stand by you while you risk everything to chase your dreams.
Going to space was always my dream as a kid. When I was 17, I discovered I was partially colorblind, which hindered my initial plans and trajectory for this path. However, I remained determined to get myself to space. I worked in many facets of the space industry and held onto my dream until it became a reality in 2021.
I co-wrote this song with 2 talented writers, Lucia Comnes and Adrian Essiet, after they heard my story shortly after my spaceflight. They were able to tap into my mind, capturing the dichotomy of leaving loved ones behind while achieving my lifelong dream, and conveying the magic and essence of this emotional experience.
