On October 13, 2021, I travelled to space alongside Star Trek’s William Shatner, Audrey Powers, and the late Glen de Vries on Blue Origin’s 2nd human spaceflight, becoming only the 3rd Australian, and the first electronic music producer, to venture into the great unknown of space.

To celebrate the 2nd anniversary of this historic flight, I released a triumphant new song and cinematic music video, entitled “The Great Unknown.” An up-tempo and unashamedly optimistic number, the song celebrates the joys of exploration, curiosity and spirit of adventure.
The music video, dedicated to my crewmates, debuts never-before-seen footage from our trip to space aboard the New Shepard rocket, courtesy of Blue Origin, and is mixed with newly filmed story elements to create an inspiring and heartwarming story of a young boy growing up to realise his dream of one day going to space.
The music video was produced in collaboration with San Francisco Bay Area-based media company, Maximum Flavor, and New York-based production company, Story Developing. It is co-directed by Ryan Lynch, director of the award-winning episodic series documenting the development of Kerbal Space Program 2, and Mark Heim, whose music videos and other productions feature frequently in film festivals. The video is notable because the new material was shot on film, something rare these days.
“The Great Unknown” was co-written by myself and former Motown staff writer, Alan Roy Scott, whose credits include Celine Dion, Cyndi Lauper, Notorious B.I.G., Luther Vandross, Cher, Sheena Easton, and many others. The song was mixed collaboratively by Bill Simpkins at Alpenglow Sound Studios and synthwave artist Color Theory, with Simpkins providing additional production. It was mastered by Grammy-nominated and Juno Award winning mastering engineer Greg Mindorff at Suite Sound Labs, Vancouver BC.
This is the first song from my new space-themed EP, scheduled for release in early 2024. Two more music videos will follow, showing the spaceflight experience in new and inspiring ways. This music video premiered on Youtube on Friday Oct 13, 2023, and the song is available on all music streaming services.
